Huge lag in Union City?
Hey, so I got through the first two games no problem. But I find that when I'm in rather large stages of Union City (outside in the streets, for example), suddenly my game lags more and more as zombies start to appear. It's a weird kind of lag though, like my character will continue to move forward for a few seconds if he was moving forward, or he won't attack until about four seconds after I click the mouse. The actual game doesn't stutter, but control responses get major delays.

Any recommendations for a fix? Thanks.

Suffering from the same lag very reminiscent of the lag experienced in the browser flash version except the flash version did not have as many game breaking bugs.

It runs even worse than the flash version does? i was just about to buy it.. i guess i'll wait til the devs fixed it. I'm still very happy it finally released on steam, though.

I am also getting bad lag during zombie rushes in Union City

this is a bit of a long shot but could it be microsoft defender. it also slows down balloon tower defense 5, which is a flash game from the same era as well. try setting an exemption and see if it helps.

I have Defender disabled, game still lags. It's only playable with all the settings lowered.

the lag that happens when multiple zombies/objects are displayed and is a issue for all flash apps, with high ammounts of dynamic content being thrown in, as I think it still uses flash, and is just being feed through a middleman so that everyone can play as flash is now dead and burried, id imagine that the same fix for any flash related app will work.

1. reduce graphical quality (if you dont want to, well too bad nothing more you can do till the dev figures out how to reduce this issue with the added graphical increases they implimented)

2. reduce the time it takes for objects to despawn (in options, same comment above applies for those who cant live without graphical overkill).

likely wont fix it for everyone, but will likely fix it for majority, potato computers probly not included, but that should have been a given.

[Edit: to be more specific, everything u do, weither you shoot a zombie, or shoot nothing, whenever you see a object spawn on the field weither its blood or a shell casing, or whatever, thats a new dynamic object added, and theres a very low limit to how many of these can exist for the engine that was used, since i am thinking its run through a middleman app so that its playable on most computers, as well as looks to have gotten a bit of extra code changes on the inside, as there are a few issues i dont remember having a problem with prior, the chances of this limit being lower then the original are probly the case as well, however I am not one of the devs, and have no idea of what they all did to create there game, so this is speculation, however im basing it on the limitations of flash itself, so I am likely right on a number of what has been said above.]

huh well it was worth a shot.

maybe it might also have to do with the AI upscaling they packaged with the game. As far as I can tell it is the same game from years ago but with some AI upscaler running. I also notice it is what takes the bulk of my CPU operations.

So, I went ahead and beat the game even with the super lag (The final stretch was a nightmare because of it), but looking back: Would going to Task Manager and setting the game's priority to High, and maybe also going to the Affinity and taking out a core (If using multi-core CPU) work to give it more power? Not sure if this Flash-type thing bottlenecks or not.

You can try it, but if you want a actual fix for it you would be better off reducing the time objects stay on screen under options (one of the fixes i stated above) and Sudo is fairly correct in his assumption, the upscaling added a crap ton of extra issues involving this, which is why reducing it to the default will give you a massive boost, the devs will hopfully revisit there usage of the said addition, and maybe it will be playable on the higher limits, but if your having issues, you can use the above fixes.

I turned off the upscaling, turned all my settings to low, and changed the native resolution of the game to the middle setting. Haven't had any lag whatsoever since.

This is why I haven't bought the series yet. I remember that being a terrible issue back when it was just a flash game and I still see people complaining about it. Now they want money for the game. Big no
