Transfer Pipes are a nightmare.
These transfer pipes are a nightmare to work with. Is there any way to place them without having them auto connect? It's impossible to run them in parallel with each other without them turning into a tangled mess, which basically makes the parts zigzag all over the place.

Also, I feel like transfer pipes need to have controllable direction, both horizontally and vertically. (or make it so the belt logic blocks can be rotated on a vertical axis and not just a horizontal one.)

The auto connect feature is great for signal wire, power wire and water pipes, basically something with constant flow. However, the transfer pipes should function more like conveyor belts. No auto connect, and very specific directional placement.

Right now i'm currently struggling with getting two pipes on a horizontal plane to merge into a vertical plane. (actually, the connecting is fine, but the path the parts go in can't be controlled.

For now, each pipe will connect. Separation walls are coming, which will let you split walls.

You can always use pusher blocks to force pushing in just one direction, so even if they are connected, they will still push in the direction you want.

Yes, but the problem with the logic blocks, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that they only rotate on the X and Y horizontal Axis. There's no way to rotate it on the vertical Z axis. So, if you want to push something vertically up or down a pipe off the X & Y axis, it doesn't work.

Your suggestion is what I needed to find a reasonable workaround to my current issue.

I managed to circumnavigate my current problem by pushing 1 block horizontally before going vertical, so that the push block would work. However, it's was pretty inconvenient and not very aesthetically pleasing.

As a final thought on the matter, I'd say the indiscriminate directional nature of transfer tubes is really rather annoying. I'd see it as an inconvenient oversight rather than a bug or a feature. I hope to see it get some kind of solution in a future edition. (my two suggestions would be directional tubes or rotating logic blocks on a vertical axis. ) I'm very much looking forward to separation walls as well.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. It's great to see a developer being active in the discussions.

i totally agree but for the same and different reason. the logic blocks dont seem to work the best on pipes, i have to bump then filter and having direction blocks all over is ugly. i love this game but my OCD hates the fact the pipes dont work! lol

I can kind of deal with the wonky using pushers to keep things flowing in the right direction when connecting pipes but also don't want to have to deal with using walls to keep them from snapping to pipes next to them. That and like you said how there is no direction to the tubes like belts and if you don't use a pusher to stop flow then you are tearing it all down again. I wish they direct connected to producers and inventories. Or, at the bare minimum make the converter/connector as a 1x1 block. So while I've messed with them some I just do layered belts where needed and the only down side is you can't go directly vertical like with a pipe.
