Gas Rigs and pipes.

I just started to remodel my base amd found a planet with gas on it. How do I move that gas back to the smelters that need it? I can't move it through the docking stations because it's not possible to connect the pipes and building them outside connects them on occasion but no gas moves back to the base. The pipes seem a bit wonky to use, maybe that's intentional, no idea. Or are we supposed to have the smelter right next to the rig? An answer/explanation would be appreciated, thank you.

The Advanced Docking station will eventually do that. As of right now, you have to build a sub base on the area that has the gas. You cannot also go from a planet to your main base with pipes as that does not work. The only solution right now is to build a sub base unfortunately.

I see. Thank you for the reply. It shouldn't be such an issue for now. Doesn't seem like I need tons of the newer items.

For now the best thing to do it to smelt the ores that need gas ON the island itself.

That does mean that you have to drag around that island for a while... But it isn't the end of the world.
I tend to carve them up and attach it to another island until the gas is used up.

Gas is rare so you might want to get all the gas from any island you find and keep it in containers until you do need it.

Yea. It is a pain, but doable.

Luckily, it is a "simple process" from ore to rod, and you need some water (bring in ice) and convert them to water to make other stuff needed.
