Autopilot quest

how can i activate the autopilot ^^ i have the quest and dont know how
control panel is build but when i click nothing heappend

Just fly around :p Autopilot activates when you use the control panel to fly instead of the engines manually. Worst case scenario, set some thrust then press the stop button.

First of all the term autopilot is bit misleading, its not that you can point a planetoid on the map and tell autopilot to go there. Its a thruster control system, you build the auto pilot console and a bunch of thrusters in different directions and if build before enable them. Then you open the autopilot console and if you for example want to travel to the north west and up you move the squares to the northwest and up. The autopilot console will configure all the thrusters to move your base in the set direction. And if you tell autopilot to stop, it will shutdown the thrusters.

The only thing you need to do to complete the activate autopilot is like Bedbug says is moving your base with thrusters controlled by the autopilot console.

OP is having the same issue as me. I have the quest for "activate auto pilot" but using the interface and moving around does not complete it. I also tried starting / stopping and even rebuilding the autopilot panel.

There is no actual autopilot. You can trigger the quest completion by interacting with the terminal and pressing the big stop button in the bottom corner though.

Thanks for the replies, apparently I have a bug that the quest won't be triggered, maybe I'll just have to rebuild all engines and console and hope that it will be triggered then :)

Sorry for necroing, but it is still one of the only threads about this question. If you previously "activated" autopilot without the task being active, you can manually set a different setting on one of your thrusters. This sets the autopilot to "inactive" and you can re-activate it (thus completing the task) by using the console to e.g. "stop everything", which activates autopilot (also know as global thruster settings).

Same thing here, still won't work. either its a bug or something conditionally stupid like mining bots only go to mines if the robot assembler is on the planetoid. quite a few other things like this as well that the game doesnt explain and you can't even find an answer on the net.

I have the exact same issue:

- I completed the "Learn about Auto Pilot" Quest.
- Installed the control panel and started flying but my "Activate autopilot" quest was not checked.
- I tried manually activating one or more thrusters (resulting in autopilot mode turning red (off)) and then starting flying using the control panel again turning autopilot mode on (green). Still no success

I did change the normal order of the tutorial though. I have already built a second station. Maybe this interferes?

Autopilot, is not auto. all it is controls for the rockets. If it was autopilot, then the rockets would direct you to a certain position you pick.

Same issue. Tried the fix, but can't get that quest to complete no matter what I do with the console.
