Check water level in water tanks
Will it be possible in the future to detect the water level inside water tanks? Atm, using the logic blocks, you can only check the amount of stored items in a storage unit but not a water tank.

I have 6 autocatchers catching ice asteroids and those dump their resources onto a loop of conveyors around a big water tank. Other materials is diverted away from the loop and into a smelter. There are 10 ice breakers connected to this tank to keep it filled and I'm using splitter blocks to supply those equally. This is working nicely, but even when the water tank is completely full, the ice breakers keep using ice cubes and they keep producing, wasting all those resources for nothing.

I tried to detect the water level and dedice if the tank is 90% full or so, all those splitters will no longer divert ice cubes into the ice breakers but into a storage unit instead.
And when water level drops in the tank below 60% or so, I would activate the splitters again and let the storage unit release it's ice cubes to fill up the ice breakers again.

But since we can't detect water level, this is impossible to do.
Or make the ice breakers stop producing when the connected water tank is full.

Inventory sensor will soon also include water and electricity, so it's going to be possible to detect when water level is higher/lower than a specific threshold.

Awesome! Looking forward to this.

Is there any chance there's going to be a water consumption rate along with the quantity in the dialog, like with power?

was this ever added , i haven't played in awhile , came back and have been trying to figure out how to use inventory sensor on water tank to controll ice grinder

or could someone link a guide that shows how logic block work with water tanks

Doesn't seem like it detects water. Just says "No Resources" when you pick a water tank block

any chance can the game dev give a update for this

Good this topic popped up. I was just about to start another one about this.

Can we have a Water Sensor please? I wanted to limit the amount of ice that's being converter and had to resort to building another container pusher and decider just to store the extra ice and then just manually move things back to main storage to stop vicios circle of looping the whole thing.

Another one that would be great to have is a Water Container. We can create Hydrogen and Oxygen, can we have a packer to pack water as well please?
Once you've melted the ice there is nothing you can do with extra water. You either use it or just delet it, which is a waste. If we coould pack it then at least we can transport it somewhere else to use it without adding extra pipes to already existring spaghetti of conveyour belt.

Just build a huge tank and turn off breakers if filling to fast or on if too low
I use a row with wire loop to use as a manual *switch*

It has been a year since you posted this... has there been an update to allow us to detect the amount of water in a tank? I can pick a tank with the inventory sensor, but it still says "No Resources" in the dialog.

And same for gas... need to be able to detect that as well.

Any update on this?

I suspect this is a reference to the update versions of the Docking stations.

I would love this feature so I can logic the ice breaker to ONLY break ice when water level is below X (that would be nice)

the issue with the "no resources" on the sensor is the fact that water or gas cannot be selected as the resource to monitor. i suspect when the developer gets around to adding that {not available at this time}, we will be able to logically control the breakers and gas pumps.
