mining for ice, stone, etc

Ice you get in pretty large quantities from the asteroid catchers (which can be set to target ice if you *really* need it), you can farm trees, but being able to target stone and especially quartz with the bot miners would be absolutely fantastic. It's really kind of painful having so much automation set up but still having to go hand mine quartz, set up and move drills again and again, or hope that whatever new planet you find to mine on has a lot of quartz between your bots and the ore they're fetching.

ice yes i set my auto collectors to do . .. trees i have farms for that but would be nice to have the options any way - quartz and stone would be at least be nice for the little miners , cause other wise you have to keep moving the big diggers around other worlds instead of ( oh dirt too ) be nice to completely mine away a planet and move the next one ( leave nothing behind LOL )

Oh thank the Devs! It's such an early game need for so many things. I mean I do like that you still need to "get out there' and do stuff, but once you'e well-established to auto-miners, there' just no more need.

One helpful thing for now is to realize you can click repeatedly to mine ALOT faster than holding the button down. You can dig out/mine 3-400 materials in a couple of minutes. It does get a bit tedious and can be a strain on the fingers if you're a bit...well older :p But it works for now. I've stopped piddling with the rocks and stuff and just get the quartz in the ground instead.

Also speeding up with +/- on numpad while digging works like a charm, just keep an eye on your oxygen...

You do know that you can make quartz in the Cir Saw building by using dirt.
