Automate quartz?

Hello currently you can not ask miner bots to get quartz. is there a way to automate it with any consistancy?

haven't really found any major use for quartz yet though, for what do you need such high quantities?

Its used to make glass which is used to make conveyor tubes i like to use the tubes for virtical runs

Ah that explains, haven't really made use of tubes yet. Makes sense it would be a mineable, just possibly not in its current form.

i hope quartz and stone blocks can be automated at some point

Whenever I run across a quartz node on a planet when flatten an area or some other task I will put a drill on it instead of using my pick, the drill will give a bigger return than using the hand pick. But finding it is the tuff part.

I havent seen any quartz nodes? All i find are individual rocks.

The light Tan area in the screen shot below is an area that has quartz and I'll be putting a large drill over the area to collect whatever is there.

Update: Man hit the mother load here. 6 tiles deep and still mining quartz - total so far 2500

You can get quarts from the middle of a few islands as well... and those don't seem to show on scans. I have a few times gotten quarts out of my drills.

It would be nice if we could grow some of those plants that give Quartz on Farms.

quartz is also used to make food for your colony as well as glass it would be nice if rocks and quartz light up like any other resource making the easier to find other wise you dig up the entire island

While this would be a nice add (if I didn't need my stone block for research that is still to be developed) it wouldn't change anything as there is no way to automate mining of stone blocks either. So hand mine or drill stone block just to wait for a crafting station to turn them into quartz. Or, hand mine or drill quartz directly, I drill for mine and have plenty after just a few targeted drilling setups.
