Miner drone
Can anyone help me? I have built miner, power, miner drones x2, conveyors and they are assigned but they are just standing still outside robot factory. I've tried to delete them and build 2 new, same problem. I have also tried Youtube and google, but no luck.

Have to build the robotics facility/miners/mining stations on the planetoids you want to mine. Im sure it will be fixed eventually but it should fix the problem in the meantime. Ran into the issue myself, had to dig through threads and replies to find an answer, so I am just paying it forward, at least if it does help lol.

Aha, thanx! I have the robot facility on the platform(Ship). I will move it.

Your Robot Assembler factory can be on your main station, but you MUST have docked with the planetoid using the big dock (not the harpoon dock) for the miner drones to find the Mine buildings on the planetoid. If you've docked with the large dock, then you place Mine buildings on the planetoid and just build Miner drones with the Robot Assembler and they should automatically cross over to the planetoid find any Mines and with spare drone slots.

Also, when you are done mining the planetoid, you can order your drones back to your main base and dismantle your miner buildings. Then dock with a new planetoid and just build the Mines. Saves you having to delete and re-make your drones.

@Silchas'ruin To further their point. There is a P menu. It has tab for local station on the horizontal and on the vertical it has the diff types of workers.

Go down to miner and over to local station. You can then TRANSFER them to another rock to do work or send them home when your're done on that rock. It's supposed to work that way, but I've got a few that are in transfer mode that aren't going back to the mother ship even after restarts. So YMMV.

So making a miner on your home base is a waste of resource because it's too stupid to go to the miner station on a connected planetoid?

I found the miners will only move across one link on there own

Getting the miners to mine is a challenge. I have yet to get them to do anything other than go to the planetoid then they just stop. There's no way to e menu it to select what to mine. ug

Miner drones need the buildings Mine or Advanced Mine buildings as a station for them to recharge their power and drop off ores at, additionally those buildings have the menu to control which ores the miners seek out in their UI.

also a quirk in moving them around, if a miner gets stuck floating in midair then you'll probably need to stick a block or floor panel under them so their pathing algorithm can recalibrate.

Hi all how is this now working for you? Some steps to try:

1) build your drone maker on the ship
2) dock with a proper large dock to a planet
3) on the planet, build your mine/s
4) make sure your mines have power
5) build some miner drones on your ship
6) if they do not immediately go across the dock, select the mine on the planet, and there should be a + button (you want there to be 2/2 miners for a standard mine, 3 for advanced)
7) choose the ore you want the drones to mine
8) if they don't get busy, choose a different ore
9) the ore must be accessible and not under a building, tree, or rock. They mine straight down from the surface to the ore vein they've chosen.
10) if the ore runs out in that vein, and they don't reassign by themselves (it happens occasionally but not often), go into the mine and assign an ore that isn't on the planet. Then reassign the one you want it to mine, It should update to find a new ore body.
11) when your planet is sucked dry, delete the mines (leave the dock) then the miners will be sitting idle, go into the P menu and click "Mass Migration" then first click your station in the To field, and then the planet in the From field, and click All/Idle and Migrate!

Hoping this helps. Have fun!
