Is there a real double jump ever or is it always...

Is it always Hit something -> Gain a Jump? As one of my favorite mechanics in any metroidvania, I really dislike this implementation of one of the most popular movement mechanics.

There is no true double jump (like monarch wings in HK), any additional height after the first jump must be gained through pogoing. I think there are an omamori or two that allow jump/dash resets off of damage as well...or it might just be a dash reset.

I wouldn't say it's crude, it's just... different. It's the same as The Messenger, but I just never found myself enjoying it because of that annoying prerequisite of needing to hit something before you can do your next jump. I wish they would have just implemented a normal double jump or something else, but I guess I'll get used to this over time.
