Extending station worker request range.

I get that couriers and distribution centers are good (if worker inefficient) ways to extend how far goods can travel to/from stations. Is there any way to do something similar for worker request range other than adding tram routes and more stations?

Is that worker request range upgradable? My testing so far seems to indicate it isn't.

Having that mine on a tile too far is oh so frustrating.

when you get to steel you can build passenger stations which behave the same as a small station cargo wise, but you can have much bigger platforms and 3x the range. and the cargo station has the same range as a small station but like 5x cargo capacity
