At the heart of don't starve together is an exciting gameplay loop of exploration, base-building, and discovering wacky items like star staves, bee mines, or armor you have to feed. However, you only experience the peak of the game in a fairly narrow window of time: after you escape noob hell (the game explains none of itself) and before you know TOO MUCH.

Yeah, there is distinct threshold where things become to easy. Two main reasons are the overabundance of resources and the lack of difficulty scaling. Since self-sufficiency is so easy with items like meatballs or stonefruit, the game quickly loses its jazz and becomes tedious. Since the only things that truly scale are the hounds, which are trivial to deal with, you stop feeling the need to improve your welfare. At that point, survival becomes a chore, just maintaining stocks.

This game has many bosses. While some drop genuinely useful rewards (eye of terror, nightmare werepig, beequeen, ancient guardian) most of them drop garbage or items that are not nearly worth the trouble (twins of terror, toadstool, shadow pieces, antlion, moose goose, crab king, malbatross). You only do these bosses when you inevitably get bored of the core survival game. It doesn't help that the combat is boring and lacks depth.

By the time you hit "hard mode" the game becomes even less interesting because the only usable weapons and armor are the new "planar" stuff. The original roster of cool gimmicky items becomes unviable, and the game is less interesting for that.

I wish there was a "maybe reccommend" option. This game is fun for a while, but fully expect hitting the wall of boredom not too long after. Once you do, investing any more time is not worth it.

If you want to know why my hours are high, it's because of AFK grinding and challenge mods (if you buy, i recommend the UNCOMPROMISING MODE mod once you hit that wall).

Remove this product from local co-op please since you cant play locally on pc... it is even called dont starve together someone wouldve thought you would fix something like this after so many years.
