I was going in circles and losing a lot of plants cuz I couldnt get enough $$ to upgrade soil and such. So, after reading posts and links, I am trying this again. I had been pollinating with the pollen offered. Is there another way to pollinate, for self pollinating? Thanks in advance for any assistance given.

honestly, for the first several (5-6) rounds of planting i just do self-polination and pick up the new basic seeds each day. it's not worth cross-breeding until you get to the point where you can afford the water, soil, and seed space necessary to accommodate whatever you might get. This is also a good tactic because later in the game when everything is a hybrid, you'll need to bring in fresh basic seeds to spur further mutations.

MAKE SURE YOU KEEP A FEW EACH OF THE FIRST PLANT SEEDS SO YOU CAN CROSS POLLINATE WHEN THE TIME COMES.. I MADE THE MISTAKE OF NOT DOING THAT THE FIRST TIME AND HAD TO START OVER.. :) YOU WILL GET THERE.. JUST BUILD YOUR MONEY ON THE FIRST ONJES UNTIL YOU HAVE UPGRADED AT LEAST TO LEVEL 2 ON EVERYTHING.. THEN YOU VAN START PLAYING AROUND MIXING AND MATCHING :)
