Is this game still being updated? It hasn't received anything new in half a year.

yeah. the game tends to go around a year or two between updates. this is a normal gap

The frequency of updates is something I was hoping would be different from the source material.

before the last update we waited like 1 year and 2 months. hold your horses
this game is indeed still being updated
