Why can't I enter the medium?

I've tried almost ten times now, I follow every instruction, prototype kernelsprite, punch the card, lathe it, put it in with the cruxite dowel, put the totem into the alchemiter, try to use the item, but nothing ever shows up differently when the item is made and I just end up dying...I had a friend play with me to make sure it wasn't just bc I was playing solo (though now I know its supposed to still work in solo)..I'm just stumped lol

First, get rid of any mods that I have on, if any. Then try using Steam to verify your files. If that doesn't work, then I'm out of ideas. Sorry.

HI i was experiencing something similar where I would make the item to enter the medium but there wouldn't be a button to bite it/any similar function to that, and I later realized it was because I was putting an extra ingredient in? I don't know exactly how to describe it but when making the item there was a top slot and two bottom slots, but it only needed one of the bottom slots filled so i was making the item wrong I guess?
