I am all about supporting moto games and have purchased every milestone mx game to date but its getting real old year after year seeing the same gear, same compound, same game, an slightly jacking up physics each time. The whole game seems like the next lazy addition in the series. Please, please bring something new to the table. Add the terrain deformation and improve air physics like we have been asking for years. Anyone reading this comment, stray away from purchasing, there is nothing new here, head on back to MX Bikes and enjoy it, cause you wont find that enjoyment here.

I haven't played a Motorcross game since my PS2 days.
After some research of other titles I went with MXGP21.
I've seen people comparing the copy and paste formula that EA uses with Madden and FIFA.
I've never played a MXGP game before so i cannot weigh in on that comment.
Yet, I would assume, like any other chain franchise there may be some truth in that statement.
If you're brand new I recommend this game.
-Soundtrack is great
-Physics are challenging (to me at least)
-Graphics look clean
-The Tracks are fun
-The Bikes sound sick.

I don't have high expectations with games and where other people might be highly critical, I'm just happy to play a Motorcross game again. Big nostalgia boost from me.

Have many hours on MXGP 2019, picked this up on sale. How can a game that is essentially the same as the previous end up worse?

For reference, in '19 I played on the most realistic physics and difficulty possible, after learning how to ride it became a fun challenge, eventually steam rolling the AI on the highest setting. (I prefer career mode only). Was hoping this game would change up tracks and new bikes/gear. To their credit they did change up tracks and gear (maybe less amount of gear IMO), but holy moly are the physics terrible on this one. Tried running all realistic settings like in '19, but attempting a lap is challenging in the way that you have no idea how the physics engine will react. The bike and rider do not behave like one would expect, even from a game, just nonsense. Like cartoon glitch wackiness nonsense. Its ridiculous. Again, bunch of hours played in '19....now to just bouncing around like gravity is on a smoke break.

Then there's the animation of the rider. It only makes sense to pair the Gary's Mod physics with what looks like Raggedy Andy with Moto GP style riding on a dirt bike (I've raced dirt bikes in the past and ride motorcycles on the road, so I have little idea of what rider form looks like). Its hard to enjoy this release when games from over a decade ago did better.

Other small things like engine noise are annoying as well. 2 strokes sound like a weed eater, I'm almost thinking that they actually recorded a weed eater. 4 strokes are ok. The sound of the revs just don't match what the bike is experiencing.

For a player expecting a realistic outdoor (MXGP/Nationals) style of motocross, look elsewhere. Heck go play 2019. For casual players, buyer be ware is all I can say. It became so frustrating after an hour, that I pulled the plug on the game and requested a refund.

P.S. I miss THQ and Rainbow Studios

Game is an exact copy and past of Mxgp 2020 just with a new menu interface. If you didn't like Mxgp 2020 you wont like this one. Handling is terrible in this game and so are the physics. If you still want to buy this game just buy it on sale but I would just wait until Supercross 5 since that seems to be the series they care more about.

So far this feels much better than previous years. The clutch actually does something! The game keeps getting better slowly but surely.

Definitely an upgrade from 2020, imo, everything improved except the soundtrack, i prefer metal / hard rock just like in the MTX mototrax

Honestly ive played almost every motocross that there is and the only one 2 that i have enjoyed are MX BIKES and any MX VS ATV. Theres something weird about every mxgp that just makes it not fun. Its so unrealistic and the bikes feel so slow. Thats just my opinion but if i were you id just buy mx bikes its way more worth it...

after roughly twenty hours spent on this game. I can honestly tell you do not spend over 5 dollars on this game. luckily i got it on sale for seven something. with that said. The physics are EXTREMELY inconsistent. the game is full of bugs. and they have the audacity to still have it regularly priced at 50 dollars. THEY ARE INSANE. Not to mention the apparently infamous stuck at the starting gate in neutral glitch. The only way to fix it in career mode that i have found is to retire from the race and give up the points which is infuriating. We expect this kind of laziness from most triple A developers. But it has quite obviously bleed into everything else. i would sooner buy an mx vs atv game before EVER giving milestone a dime again. the games have been getting progressively sloppier. But this takes the cake. I really hate writing a review like this. But i don't want Mx games ruined for anyone else. save your money my friends. This is certified cheeks

Play it on first person with minimal HUD elements.
I often find myself leaning irl when pushing in this game which is hilarious. It doesn't happen anywhere else.

MXGP 2021 is a tad better on physics and tracks than MXGP 2020, which was already the pinnacle of Milestone's MXGP games.

The most grounded feeling MXGP since Milestone went to the Unreal Engine (I can't say about MXGP 3 which I don't own).

The AI is hard as nails and I often find myself cranking up maximum AI. 2021 and 2020 MXGP I have a hard time winning races on AI level HARD, 1 notch before maximum AI which is REALISTIC.

Issues with the ruts in this one and the replay.

Ruts are often very bumpy but doesn't acts like the real life ruts that rails in your tires. Instead, they can make you crash when the track is heavily used up.

On replay, ruts are gone in front of your bike or the first bike in the scene while being regenerated around the first bike in the scene. Which is like the replay erasing past ruts. Technical bugs.

It is a heck of a lot of fun and immersive, given you're riding in first person view where camera movements are very lively.

If you want a competitor to MX Bikes or MX Simulator. This is not it. But it can be just as fun.
