Achievement: How do you throw a magazine?

For the achievement:

Heads Up
Kill an enemy with a thrown magazine

you are supposed to throw a magazine. I thought maybe you can pick up a printed media "magazine" and throw that. Apparently not? So, it's supposed to be an ammo magazine, but AFAICT you only reload magazines, not throw them?!

Mags are tossed automatically during every reload for guns with detachable mags. All you gotta do is bonk someone with it, but you have to be up close or it won’t work. . It will usually happen by accident, I didn’t realize thrown mags could kill until after I got the achievement and read its description.

For anyone (after me) being curious, if the player facing direction (forward) is north, then the magazine usually gets thrown to the south-west (the players back-left). So you need to "place" the enemy to your back-left (e.g. by rotating the avatar appropriately) when reloading i.e. throwing the magazine.

I had expected to see the magazine getting thrown forward, like "dropped" guns, but no.

Oh yeah same dude. I saw it but thought it was purely visual and had absolutely no idea it could interact with the game world.

Thrown mags getting yeeted forward like a short range kunai sounfds like a really fun idea actually!
