Vermillion

Vermillion

Steam or Quest ?
Hi,

I have a Quest 3 and also a good pc that can run PC Vr games. Should I buy Vermillon on steam or directly on the Quest Store ?

Thanks !

Hi! It depends on what you want to do. Both have the same canvas resolution. On Quest 3, the canvas looks very crisp because it can be rendered in a special way. You would have to increase the SteamVR render resolution over 100% a fair bit to get the same result on PC. Quest 3 is of course standalone, which makes it a lot more accessible than being on PC. You also get passthrough, the ability to mount paintings in mixed reality, and co-located multiplayer (playing together in mixed reality with several people in the same room). On Steam you can overlay Vermillion in other VR games, a very unique feature provided you have a powerful gaming PC.

Thank you a lot for this quick detailed answer ! I will go with the Quest 3 version then. It's all the information I needed !

Would it be possible to get a release on the Oculus store? That would give cross platform support for people who buy it on the Quest.

I'm sorry, but Rift store support has been deprecated. Meta is really phasing that out and being on multiple PC platforms requires more support for me. I work on this by myself and I can't spread out my time over more platforms to support.

No problem. I own the Quest version and to be able to play the pcvr version would be a nice perk as buyer but I understand your position.

I normally rather by the PC version for better fps and resolution alone, but Vermillion on Quest 3 is absolutely fine in that regard (I have it run at 90 fps and I think higher resolution using QGO) and not only has it passthrough (I don't use that cause I can't stand the warping from my hands) but also better haptics than the PCVR version.
