Vermillion

Vermillion

Doesn't start to headset with HTC vive pro
Hi,

When I click 'start' on steam and put on the headset I can see the "Vermillion - up next" sign as expected. However it just sits on that screen and doesn't go further. Eventually I can hear sound effects through the headphones, and when I take the headset off I can see that there's a window on the laptop screen instead.

I have a dozen other steam VR games which are working fine, so this problem seems vermillion specific. I've tried rebooting, switching to both alternate betas, no luck.

Help?
Cheers,

What is your OpenXR setting? You can check in SteamVR > Settings > enabled advanced > Developer. It should be on SteamVR. Unfortunately I only have the OG Vive so I can't test it on the pro, can't see a reason why it wouldn't start though.
Perfect, that was it, thanks for the quick response!
(It was set to vive something instead of steamVR)

There's a separate Vive OpenXR runtime? Didn't even know that was a thing. Glad it's up and running, happy painting!
was having same issue on quest two gunna try that setting too if it works ill report it back here, it works if i start it in airlink but my headset disconnects from the wifi alot when i use air link for some reason so i gotta use virtual desktop instead and the steam vr wont open this game

On Quest you can also just use the Oculus branch if you're having issues with the default version.
that didnt solve it
i already did that
niether did the setting the runtime thing it was on oculus runtime so i hit the thing to switch it to steamvr runtime then restarted pc
it shows the "vermillion loading" in the vr veiw then i here the music in game and i can see the window on my pc but it doesnt put it into vr mode

Can you switch to the Oculus branch, close SteamVR, start Link, start Vermillion, then send me the log file? C:\Users\user\AppData\LocalLow\The Aviary\Vermillion\Player.log

You can copy the log to pastebin.com and copy the link here.
so i can get it to start in link but the problem is that link causes the wifi on my quest 2 to crash like every 5 minutes and when it crashes and i restart i have to restart vermillion cause it doesnt seem to recover, so i am forced to use steam vr through virtual desktop i will still upload that file after opening it in steamvr
(in virtual desktop it doesnt make my quest 2's wifi crash
(oh also i dont have a proper cable for linking to my pc (plus my pc is in my room not the vr room) (the pc is hardwired with cat6 cable to the router and router is in vr room)
