Stuck - pc keyboard response, or my error?

Hoping for a suggestion (PC). Late in the desert section (just before the very final spider bot) I used MUI as bait and brought Lana past the bot into the cave, then used Lana as bait to free up MUI. However, the bot always catches MUI before MUI gets to the cave. It appears that there is a small lag between my key press (Q) and MUI moving. I would try to hide MUI in the tall grass along the way, but I have no control over MUI (cant stop once she starts running). No matter how early I start MUI, the bot always catches her. Am I missing something, or is my key response just too slow. Thanks for any help!
