Minerva hard mode
Did anyone did it?
I hate the decision to make it AN HOUR AND A HALF of intence fight with no room for mistake, as every Ultimate, Ultima, or that flashslash can kill you.
I just can't do it, every time its a cheap death to another flashslash that is casted MOMENTARILY, you just can't react to it.
It was way easier with 20 mil health. Making it 77 mil is just insane.

Did they really boost her HP to 77m in Reunion?
Tanis Dec 18, 2022 @ 8:48am
Yes, it's insane. 77 777 777 hp.

If that's true, that would make her the new toughest FF superboss by a ridiculous margin, especially considering you don't have a full party to fight her. Guess I'll see soon enough, but impressive nonetheless

Update:
I beat her EASILY 1'st try on normal. It's not even comparable.
flash slash on hard more deals much more damage AND dispels phoenix dawn. It can oneshot you at any point it time, even with 255 vit/spirit/luck like I have.
My best attempt on hard mode was 1 hour long, I managed to lower her healh to about 2/5, when another random flashslash ended me.

I'm trying this now and I'm getting bored. I got to about 63 million, realised I would have to use 630 more costly punches and just gave up. I guess I'd now have to grind through NG+ on normal, grind all the missions and fight her there instead?

No!
the most dissapointing (or actually good?) part - you can change the difficulty at any time in the menu!
I just realized this after I started a NG+.

It's bearable with Gil Toss method, but it takes a ton of grinding to become viable

Didn't it cost 60m to beat her that way, in the OG? If she has almost 4x the HP now.. what even is the max amount of gil you can have, 99 999 999 or 999 999 999?
Sayo Dec 18, 2022 @ 5:03pm
Why would you ever use gill toss?

999,999,999 mil seems to be the cap for both gil and sp now, tested it out with salvaging tons of materia, selling bunch of crap etc . i honestly cant wait to test myself against her on hard mode for fun, i got all genji armor , heikos soul and zeidrich items and divine slayer from minerva in normal in my first run, gonna be fun to test it lol

As someone whose last mission is this fight, entire playthrough on hard. It's very stressful and long but with the added stuff to Zack's kit it is semi fair? No pun.

Plus it's just way more terrifying to see her gauges.
I've also learned stuff about her moves that make her less of a "well screw me I guess" but still a very deadly lady.

Honestly in the og version when you figured her stuff out she wasn't really that hard. Now she feels like a true ultimate boss.

Haven't done this yet as I'm still near the start of the game doing random missions but this sounds a lot like Radiata Stories super boss all over again in some ways, and of course Yiazmat.

I won it today. It took me about an hour and a half to beat her without using a gil toss.
As a tip, you need the genji shield to have an active wall and resist any attack. steal the 99 phoenix tails from minerva and use them whenever the effect is removed. patience and not hit you twice before you heal

I mentioned this in the other Minerva thread. If you raise your Buster Sword proficiency enough, you can use the stance to reduce the damage from her attacks to 0 outside of Ultima and her special ability.

It will still take forever to beat her due to the HP of course but you can also costly punch out of the stance if she is close enough too. You can also use Jump for I-frames if you'd prefer as well.

Saw that. Sounds like the best advice by far I've seen. Not sure why it got basically ignored but good mention.
