Why change the voice actors?

From what I've seen at least Zack & Angeal have had their English VAs changed...any idea why this is? I prefer the original voice work to the new one.

Not all the original voice actors are even available. Rick Gomez did Zack's original voice and he hasn't done any work for years. Not to mention after 15 years they aren't going to sound the same

Because dubbing is crap and nobody cares. The real, non-parodic voice acting has the same actor as before.

This is the answer. But additionally, If it was just a remaster for the sake of doing one they probably would have just copy pasted the voices in. Since 7 is being completely redone though, they needed a new cast that would be available for future titles.

No, Japanese only obsessed "Dweebs" (dumbass weeaboos) deserve that criticism because THEY are entirely too close minded by protesting ALL other dubbing except Japanese. Same, I don't think the original VAs would've been too hard to get or too different sounding today. A man's voice doesn't change much from age 27-54...so Gomez could've portrayed Zack again just fine. I'm not going to bother buying this or 7R until they're on sale, either at 77% off or if they sell it for $7.77 which I KNOW they'll do a 1 day sale on one of FF7's anniversaries.

Did I say when it would happen? No & I don't give a rats flying ass how long it takes...no FF7 game is worth more than $7.77 anyways.
