M1-1-1: The exploit

So... Being on chapter 10 right now, but end up playing M1-1-1 for hours.
Only killing all troopers expect the last one and then either put a duct tape on the "blocking"-button or as of currently having Dash (2 stars) equipped, rather equipping an "Auto-Potion" item for the worst case.

But then again, melee damage of that one soldier is 2 to 3 and the machine gun attack just takes 5x1 damage. XD
When blocking, I Zack takes 0 damage.
Then again even with the low built as of having just One-Star-Materia equipped for leveling, the 8000 HP are hard to decrease for one trooper, especially as the constant triggering of special attacks adds a HP bonus anyways.

I am waiting to unlock 100% DMW for Cloud and Cissnei. The last two missing, except of 3 summons still not being unlocked, these just have to be triggered once.
Which is far mor easy than triggering specific movie sequences during combat.


But this "exploit" is perfect for grinding materia and unlocking DMW.
I wonder if the "Auto-Potion" item is even necessary, when getting healed by triggering a nice face combination on the DMW adds HP.
Yet I rather take no chances.

Funnily, I thought that my over 700,000 SP would degrade by simply standing around there doing nothing.
But since each spin just costs 10 SP, I ended up with 800,000 and raising currently, as every successful face match adds SP.


I somewhat like the DMW. It's a good try to add the round-based elements from the previous installments I played in the overall FF-franchise into a more "action-JRPG"-title.

Anyone else likes to cheese M1-1-1 for unlocking DMWs and leveling materia / Zack himself?
I even went so far to duct tape the block-button and go asleep before my current run on that mission. XD

Throw on a protect ring, and a the ring that grants auto-regen.... they hit for 1.. and a single tick of regen means they cannot kill you... ever.... then, go do something else, for the day... come back and collect your 100% DMW

Thanks. I did a lot of missions, but did not spend much time on checking the items. ^^

could be placebo, but felt like attacking gave me better/faster dmw rates vs afkonly so i did m1-1-4? afk w/fury ring and 2 master of wtv dmw i needed. got most in 1 afk run, aerith took like 3 prob cuz she has 9999 scenes.

Weird, I got Aerith before Cloud and Cissnei. XD

Then again, I really appreciate of how CC blatantly shows of what an "RNG" is. ^^

I also read that staying in the same battle reduced the chances of DMWs. But still, even with reduced chance it's still nice to afk grind

No, because I found that repeating missions is pretty pointless considering you'll easily max level, unlock all DMVs, and be swimming in materia just be doing every mission once.

I hit level 75+ in Chapter 3 with only 40% of missions completed and had pretty much all the gear I wanted then just breezed through the story till I got the Buster Sword.

Now doing the other 60% of the missions to build up the Buster Sword proficiency.

Sitting on 4+ million gil, 2+ million SP, 10+ of most materia, and 5+ of pretty much every accessory. Currently level 87 and only 49% of the missions have been completed and I've only made it to Chapter 6.

Nice work.
Even though the DMW is RNG-based. It surely can be manipulated, but even the manipulation just influences the RNG, but does not completely eliminate the randomness. ;)

Yeah it's still RNG, however there are 300 missions each with 5 or more battles on average. So the chances of RNG not being in your favor enough times to at least fill the DMV over the course of 1,500 battles, not counting the story battles, seems rather small. Especially if you're manipulating it with the DMV boosting materias.

If you need a specific one then just equip 3 of that DMV materia. It's what I did to ensure I got Octaslash for example for the Magic Pot that gives the Genji Shield.

I'm playing this for the first time and missed on the Research Dept. QMC+ Shop for the respective materia. Yet I still kind of want to unlock it this playthrough, before I go NG+.
So I guess it might be the best way to hope for it in a long, harmless battle. ^^

Equip 2 moogle materia, and a lucky stars materia, get heavenly on your DMW. then, kill them, equip 3 apocalypse materia 1 lucky stars materia and 1 moogle materia.

This will ensure genisis. I know because That's what I have done, though it depends on what chapter you're in as well, Genesis is only available during certain chapters.

This will ensure genisis. I know because That's what I have done, though it depends on what chapter you're in as well, Genesis is only available during certain chapters.

Guides say that you can get all flashbacks within chapter 10.

Well I am chapter 10 and it's Cissnei which is now missing for me.
I've continued missions to unlock Cactuar, Tonberry and the Pot, even though I had to replay these missions since the hidden bosses and especially the Magic Pot are quite easy to miss.

I've completed ALL side missions now. Minvera was a very nasty bit. :O

Still... Cissnei is sitting there on 90% in the DMW and I can continue playing the gamble wheels only. XD

I got Genesis's today after farming for 3 days.
Try all mastered Lucky Stars but don't go afk (you need to activate her DMW in order to get Heavenly status).

I just did the "1000 Shinra troopers" quest once more.
Triggered her Lucky Stars from time to time, but only got the regulars.
Never even one memory of her. ^^

Then again, as of just recently having Magic Pot unlocked, I need to trigger that one too.

I wish I would not have missed on that damn treasure chest for the shop that sells an item which increases her DMW probabilities.
Anyways, that's something I can look forward to, when I do NG+ on hard mode. :)
