Is the levelling system still the slot machine nonsense?

I played the original for two hours before I realized how you levelled up, then never touched it again and watched a video of the game online instead.

Did the remaster change this or is this a skip?

It's the same.

But you DO realize that it's not random? You gain EXP in the game, you just don't see it. when you get enough EXP to level up, the slot machine levels you up. It's the same as any other RPG, but they make it look random, when it's not.

It's... Half of how you level up. You still get EXP but instead of just levelling up with EXP you get a 777 roll after you get enough.

If you get enough to level, it forces the level up to happen.

Hmm, the way I had understood it, it would just raise a random stat / give random bonus every slot roll.

Guess ill read up a bit on how it works, might have dismissed the system a bit prematurely.

I abhor gambling to begin with, I suppose the whole slot machine threw me off right off the bat

The best thing is that the slot results no longer interrupt combat. They're just going on in the background this time.
