How to do Advanced Graphics settings (details inside)
The graphics settings of the game are pretty barebones but since this is a UE4 game you can edit engine.ini file to do a lot of advanced enhancements or decrease graphical values according to your preferences. The file is located in:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\CCFF7R\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Engine.ini

Just add the line [SystemSettings] as shown below to the bottom of the engine.ini file using Notepad. Below that add the graphical lines I have written below that you want to affect in game. I have added the function of these lines below them and also the values that you can add to them. Just keep in mind that in some settings you can only add 0 or 1 in value to disable or enable that effect respectively.

resolution scale value 150 means 1.5% of in-game resolution

r.Tonemapper.GrainQuantization=0
disable film grain

r.Tonemapper.Quality=0
disable vignette

r.MaxAnisotropy=16
set anisotropic filtering value of 2,4,8 and 16

r.MotionBlurQuality=0
disable motion blur

r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0
disable depth of field

r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0
disable chromatic aberration

r.BloomQuality=0
disable bloom

r.AmbientOcclusionLevels=4
Ambient occlusion value of 0-4

r.SSR.Quality=4
Screen space reflection value of 0-4


r.LensFlareQuality=0
r.DefaultFeature.LensFlare=0
Above 2 lines to disable lens Flare


r.DefaultFeature.AntiAliasing=2
r.TemporalAACurrentFrameWeight=0.2
r.TemporalAASamples=32
r.TemporalAASharpness=0.8
All these lines for better and more sharpened temporal AA

All these lines for different viewing distance enhancements

These 2 lines to Increase Shadow Distance


r.AmbientOcclusion=1
r.HBAO.Enable=1
r.AmbientOcclusionLevels=4

All these lines to enable HBAO+

r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=1
For sharpening

r.FullScreenMode=1
1= Borderless Fullscreen, 0= Exclusive fullscreen

r.SSGI.enable=1
r.SSGI.Quality=3
r.SSGI.HalfRes=0
These 3 lines are for adding SSGI (Screenspace Global Illumination) and an even better AO. The downside is that this is the most graphical heavy setting of them all which will cost you almost 35% to 40% of performance, so use wisely..

These lines are for enabling GTAO, a different method for better AO. If you are experiencing extreme glow in different stages then I suggest disabling SSGI and use this. Just set the value to 0 in the first line of SSGI to disable it.
After that set the value of r.GTAO.FalloffEnd according to your needs. The bigger that number, the larger the AO is. I would recommend between 50 to 100 max on this game.

Frequesntly asked questions

1- Do these settings apply to every UE4 game?
Ans: Yes. These are universal settings for every UE4 game

2- Is this a mod?
Ans: No. These are UE4 engine.ini tweaks.

3- How much performance will it effect?
Ans: Only by using the SSGI lines you will lose about 40% of your performance. Using GTAO will only make u lose like 5% to 10%. The view distance upgrades will not take much as the game does not have bigger maps/stages. The rest of the settings will not effect performance at all.

4- How does screen percentage work?
Ans: This setting work according to the resolution you set in graphics setting inside the game. If your in-game resolution is 1080p and you set the value to 150, the game will render at native 1440p. If the value is 200, the game will run in 4K.
You can also get performance gain with this setting. A good example is...if you get like 55fps in 4K in-game resolution, you can decrease this value to 90 to get 60fps 4K experience without noticable visual quality loss.

5- Should I delete SSGI lines if I only want to use GTAO?
Ans: No. Just set the value of r.SSGI.enable to 0 to disable it.

What blurry artifacts do you got exactly and where?
nevermind i got it with SSGI aswell its the lens flare probably its not that well implemented in this game, atleast at 1080p, looks blurry.

Difference is like high to very high in other games. better reflections for sure. I turn off the sharp textures out of preference. Maybe i will post some later.

Heres a pic with the INI and the sharpening off and GTAO:

The diferences can be very subtle in an screenshot but are better global illumation, the shadow outlines in Zack arms that are non existant without the ini, clearer reflections, better aliasing, better resolution, etc. Things you would notice more moving around anyway.

Without INI:

The reflections can look very fuzzy, check the one in the wall near Zack. Shadows are grayish. Zack hair looks way worse, Aliasing really stand out (when moving around).

You can use a picture slider app to make a direct comparison but you can tell the first ones just look better. With the sharpening options it looks, well, sharp and crisp but i prefer the softer look for the character outlines at these resolutions. SSGI is too much a perfomance hit.

Is r.FullScreenMode=1 not the line to get rid of the black borders on the Steam Deck so I can play full screen with 16:10 aspect ratio instead of the 16:9 the game is forcing? I tried it and it didn't work.

I think that just sets the fullscreen type to either exclusive or borderless. The bars are most likely just SE not actually adding 16:10 ratios to the game properly

Even better INI, this one really increases reflection distance and adds new effects:

-Cinematic Depth of Field
-Convolution Bloom
-Increased TAA and AO quality
-Disabled Dynamic Resolution
-Increased View Distance and LOD bias
-Better cascade shadows
-Screen Space Global Illumination

Optionally:
-Motion Blur with secondary pass (removes artifacts)

for the anti aliasing, more sample doesn't mean better quality, stick to 4-8 max, you get a way more stable image with less AAsamples

thanks for the screenshots!! the INIedited Crisis Core looks much better.... who knows why they did not implement these options in the game

Because they have optimized the game for the lowest common denominator, in this case the Switch. They do not dare to put any option that can break the performance on consoles.
Unfortunately this is what happens with ports to PC.

I can't choose what looks best... This, or nexus mods reshades... This sort of stuff bothers the hell out of me... (I invoke lord Satan!) Why can't SE do these things themselves and make it look good without causing a hazy blur on top of the game? It seriously makes me not want to play the game it just makes me so sick to think about how SE ruins their games intentionally....
