Zack's new voice isn't that bad.

I've been playing the game for a couple hours on PS4 and I'm not hating Zack's new voice as much as I thought I would. It's definitely a downgrade and a little inconsistent, but I can see how it'll be a good warmup for Rebirth.

Granted, I'm still looking forward to voice replacement mods, but I don't mind the voice currently.

Definitely gonna take some getting used to, but it's not NEARLY as bad as the first iteration of FFVIIR's. Caleb has definitely improved since 2020 with the Integrade version's extra snippet of him and with FFCCR

The best way I saw it described was this tweet.
"Zack sounds like he makes video essays about the Mario Kart speedrunning community."
It is extremely unfitting and it single handedly will make me play the game with japanese audio until someone mods his voice back in.

Yeah agreed. I'm looking forward to the CC late game and see if his voice changes to fit Zack's increasing experience and weariness.

First thing I heard was that voice come from my tv and I thought ….
“who just kicked a little girl??!?”
Oh what. It was zack… well. At least sephiroth is in the mix….

I played the OG at release and wasnt aware of his VA changing. But damn they did zack dirty. They better have treated the rest of reunion right because this little girl VA talking for my character aint it.

Jokes aside. Cc is fun af. Which is nice considering a lot of trash has been releasing lately. But damn that va, just no. Lol

I have to agree with the above and I try not to have nostalgia goggles. I just watched a whole comparison of voices (because to fairly judge the differences, I had to listen to the old voices again and then to the new voices to compare them.) SPOILER WARNING below, see:

Not sure what you mean by "all", only 2 people including OP do not seem to mind them. Sure, some will say it would take a time to adapt but after these years? Original is better.

Along the way though, I refuse to adapt to zack sounding like a 6 year old girl 🤣. Ill give them a pass for this one because i really only care about the combat and content in cc

Almost eight hours in and Zack's new voice is still doing fine. Like I said, a little inconsistent, but overall fine. He's hitting some of the softer/sad tones and emotion well, and I actually laughed over a well delivered funny line.

This honestly feels like a Shakespeare situation, just another take on the performance.

"I can cut loose right?" - I was like; who is this b i t c h boy? Googled new VA, don't do it, but I can say the voice fits the face, and it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad. I will never forgive Square for replacing Rick Gomez, and I'm not a Gomez fan boy, but if they are gonna redo the VO. How could they be satisfied with this? I mean it's total garbage. Totally kills the character. I'm seriously thinking about refunding the game. Cause I won't be able to stand this new VA.
