I have no idea how long this remake will be as quite often remakes are shorter than the original games (just for example: Resident Evil 3). Crisis Core seems to be much more action oriented that other FF games so I just assumed that 12 hours seems believable (it is still a little bit longer than, let's say DMC series which is also mainly action oriented).
All in all, the length of this game would be the prime factor for me to consider buying it. If I knew for 100% that this game would take me over 30 hours without replaying any part of it, I would've already preordered it.
It is completely rebuilt in a new engine with new models, textures, environments, lighting etc but underneath the skeleton is the same. The animations, rigging, etc are identical to the original PSP version.
I would expect most players to get 20-30 hours out of it at a minimum, considerably more (at least double that) if you want to take on the hardest boss (Minerva) and complete all 300 missions. The achievements/trophies also incentivize players to spend a little more time with the various mini-games and puzzles.
