Having an armored move can help as long as you can stick really close to him, and use the armor to counter his attempts to slap you, or when he tries to run away (you might still take damage from the ice if the move goes into it).
Kendo and Momo in particular can also attempt to form a hole in the ice wall: If the attack ONLY hits the shield, but not the character, then that part of the ice wall will not appear and leave a spot to go through. Just be mindful that you don't get trapped by a Gamma.
