the shield has a hard time stopping melee attacks right on top of her
Deku's and Iida's Beta can more often than not go right through and break the shield. It's inconsistent and I've tested it a bunch in training mode. No real trick to it but just pray to RNJesus.
A well placed Cementoss Alpha near, but not directly at Kendo can hit her if she walks towards it. Level 9 alpha for an easier time
Todoroki's ice will 75% of the time go through Kendo's shield, as well as Tomura's alpha.
Ibara does not care at all about Kendo's shield. Her alpha goes right through it.
Aizawa's erasure quirk makes Kendo a sitting duck.
- Shigaraki's Alpha and Todoroki's Gamma will only go through the shield if the Kendo moves towards you, OR Todoroki dashes on top of the Gamma. Otherwise she will stop the line AoE dead in its track.
- If Kendo angles the shield, or uses a dodge just before an attack would hit the shield, her shield will block even unblockable attacks, stagger whoever tried to hit the shield, AND (if she dodges just right) the shield takes no damage. This is extremely tight timing, but this is how some attacks like Iida's Beta or the multitude of "kick goes to face" quirks will not break the shield.
- Going close is what Kendo wants. If she knows how to play, she will juggle between poking with rocks, blocking with shield, and armor through / surprise with clap and sprinke in some melee pokes. Stay out of clap range if you can, that's the biggest counter. If you can't, hug her if you REALLY have to melee her.
- Kendo can go directly into rocks, melee, dodge or clap out of shield without having to drop it, but not sprint or jump. For the latter two, she needs to drop the shield first, THEN sprint / jump.
