>defends the big corporation responsible
people like you are the reason AAA companies get away with scummy business practices.
Let's talk about free gems the game gives you enough free gems to buy enough levels to have characters.
Defending a company and defending a game are different. The game is fine. The company? Well idk about that, lol.
Now obviously i'll get called a zoomer cause i understand modern game practices for f2p games. So i'll just tell you, i'm 23.
I lived through the era of battle passes and 1 time purchases. I also lived through horse armor dlc and fps games being the same game for $60. Now those games are free. Why? Cause they want you to play it or spend to avoid the grind to play it.
And it works. The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ greed of gamers. You speak about zoomers having lower standards. You are playing a game for free. Free has the most players and you still get all the characters available to you if you just grind a little.
I've played for 9 hours and have both Todoroki and Bakugo. I have enough gems to buy up to Tsuyu but i'm not cause i got the characters i want.
What frustrates people is that the way they are dealt out is not in control of the player. In pretty much all games where you can unlock characters you usually have a universal currency you build up to then use to unlock a hero of choice. The game usually providing a substantial sum at the start which you can use to play what you want from pretty much the get go.
If you want to main All might or any of the 6 characters locked behind the lootboxes you are going to be sorely disappointed for upwards of a couple months, imagine if you don't have the time to play more then a few games every day.
What are you comparing a grind like this with and calling it average?
Currently there's only 3 characters locked behind gacha. If you can only play a couple games a day, you have tickets for 3 games to play whoever you want.
Also, if you can only play a few games a day, you can buy your way. That's what its there for, impatient people or people without an option. Yes there's the gacha characters but again. You can just grind them out.
Do you think they should make it so you can get everything in 5 games? Like what, if you can't play that's on you. Its a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ free game. I don't mean to sound rude. But dude you are being asked to play the game to get the rewards and crying that you have to play the free game to get characters to play the game more.
Does this not seem insane to you?
All Might is locked behind playing the game. Not a lootbox.
And its not just the 3 locked behind the lootboxes, tell me where you get your hero tickets from, which will be required for every subsequent hero after they get out of lootbox purgatory.
My issue is that the player has either no control in what they choose to grind (even though this is a one time thing) or no foresight in when they obtain what they want. They already had to make a change in the experience rate day 1 because it was that bad and people are still mad. Why because they have experienced games of the same nature that are more fair.
I don't think players should necessarily unlock everything at breakneck speed. A progression system for unlocking characters has its upsides but it has to be reasonable. It is a delicate balance.
And just because its free doesn't mean these things don't matter. If that was the case Diablo Immortal would be called a good game.
