Design changes & 18+ content?

Show completely different outfits. What's the story here?
Additionally, the Japanese version of the game was 18+ (ie. had explicit sexual content), but there's no mention of adult content here. Is there going to be an adult release elsewhere, or is the English release only going to be all-ages?

Have you not been following the drama? Check the official website. They changed that character to be in university and the highschool teacher to a university professor. Thus they changed all art and sprites for that character to now wear a long black dress instead of a school uniform. There will be no patch or separate adult version because Laplacian is no longer doing story centric adult games. So with this release of Cyanotype Daydream they are adding a great deal more of story content, but have no plans to ever do a patch or a separate release of the original adult version from 2020. They made this clear on their official Twitter account and people working on the localization of the game have supported that Laplacian has wanted to move away from adult games for a while and with the recent surge in popularity and attention from their other localized releases and the upcoming Future Radio, they are now shifting their company to all ages focused. They made a separate brand for short nukige titles like their previously released and localized Rikky Horne and its sequel, but all story focused, higher quality titles will be all ages.

Oh, well that's absurd. If they wanted to shift to focusing on all-ages titles, they should probably have done that with a new game, not by making a neutered version of a game that already existed as an 18+ title.
Thanks for the heads up, I can write this one off.

That was my same reaction. They should've just made a new all ages game and allowed someone like NekoNyan to release the 18+ version of the game. Even more absurd since it is a fairly recent release which came out less than a year before they announced the English localization for it.

Not buying censored novels with no ability to apply 18+ patches. I said same thing about Noratoto 1 and 2 and i will say same thing about this and future novels.

Seems the age change from high school to university may only be present in the English version, not in Chinese or Japanese.

I was looking forward at first, but I'm not going to support this one. Obvious reasons.

As I said before, I think part of this is due to the expectation people have since previous Laplacian works were released with 18+ content in English and even an upcoming 18+ English release from NekoNyan. And they announced the localization not too long after it had came out in Japan so it was especially jarring. I can understand not wanting to do Adult content though, we hear this all the time. Type-Moon as a big example of this and they have now grown way beyond their previous niche. Key as well moved away from eroge over a decade ago. Minori were doing decently fine business wise, but could not grow in the market because they wanted to move away from 18+ content and it seemed like they could not survive in the industry unless they kept making 18+ visual novels which they didn't want to. Leaf/Aquaplus were also the same pretty much after White Album 2 released. I'm sure many Japanese fans were up in arms when those companies moved away from eroge, but now English and Chinese players are seeing it first hand and quickly effecting them when usually we don't see the effects until much later whenever the official localization happens such as with Key works. Many people were about to be up in arms when Yuzusoft announced they would be developing all ages VNs until they clarified they were still developing 18+ VNs as they primary projects.

i dont think your getting the point here..
People couldn't care less about Laplacian going All Ages if that's what they want.
This has more to do with the original JP version of Cyanotype Daydream being 18+ while EN version getting altered to All Ages. basically Sexual Censorship.. and we all know how that goes down. Not just in the VN industry but other places as well. Just a simple google search about it is more than enough to make one see how badly this goes. Infact the recent CG alteration of a popular Gacha " Blue Archive " by Nexon resulted it in getting massively downvoted and huge backlash. just one examples of many

My point is that Laplacian wanting to go all ages is coinciding with their English and Chinese localizations of their most recently released title. Even for Japanese players while they still have an option to play the 18+ content and probably already have, if they want the added content here they will still be missing out on the 18+ content present only in the previous release and this doesn't change the fact Laplacian plans for all future releases to be all ages which still effects them. Even the previous examples I gave of Type Moon, Aquaplus and Key did this before by making all ages PC versions of their most recent work or older work(s) and then kept doing all ages from there. Yet, all those releases were for Japan only, so many players either already or had ways to buy the 18+ version if they wanted to. This has the added effect of irritating the English and Chinese audiences who never got to play the original 18+ release and will now never have that option at least through official channels which will be the most accessible for a great deal of people. If Laplacian wanted to go all ages using their most recent title that they had just released exactly 9 months before they formally announced the localization, I just felt they should've offered the base 18+ version localized on other platforms and probably shouldn't have self-published this and just used NekoNyan or something since they are doing Future Radio. I can understand why a patch wouldn't be done since this version is very different, but just giving English and Chinese players that same option the Japanese players would have would go a long way. Them going all ages for future projects will bum or piss off some people, but at least for Cyanotype Daydream people would've had an option. But, their statement, "Better to be hated than to be ignored, thank you everyone" shows that Laplacian or at the very least, onowasabi very much does not care about any of that.
