I can see this concept working, but I don't think it should have been a free roam game. The number of times I heard the buzzer noise and saw "Can't go there now" or "Don't need to talk to her right now" pop up on the screen nearly drove me insane. Sometimes the game wants you to talk to someone so badly that you can't backtrack to where you were seconds earlier. In once scene, I could turn the camera to the right, because that got me closer to the conversation the game wanted me to have, but I couldn't turn left and go back to where I just was.

The choice to make the relationships customizable is fine, but they definitely shouldn't be free text input. As soon as you start the game, you're asked to write in your relationships to people you haven't even met yet. For example, the game prompts you with "Elizabeth is your...". Confused, I wrote "landlord", which caused my character and every other NPC to start referring to her as Landlord: "Bye, Landlord!", "If Landlord asks, tell her I went outside," etc. In the intro, the game tells you that you can update your relationships from the options menu, but when I tried to do that, I got a RenPy error, every single time. I restarted the story.

In my opinion, the relationships should have just been locked to something like "mom, sister, sister", which appears to be what the game is written for. If custom relationships were important to the developer's vision of the game, they should have provided a few preset options for all of the characters at once, like one button for "mom, sister, sister", one for "landlord, friend, girlfriend", etc., and made those choices have some effect on the story. Failing that, they should have at least thoroughly tested the option to change the relationships, since they call it out in the introduction and it's the only way to fix a "landlord" type situation without restarting from the beginning.

The renders are good. The UI is bad. Achievements seem to trigger semi-randomly. The text-to-speech narrator is so awful that I looked up a guide to delete its audio files, since there's no built-in option to disable it. This game has such a high rating, I'm kind of surprised my experience was this bad. Maybe things were especially broken for me. Maybe I've been spoiled by more polished AVN titles. But I'm going with my gut here, and my gut says to stay away.
