As for the Portal opening, there are mods that remove the triggering units already.
Though in year 73 you should easily crush any of those events.
dude the map was 100x100 and enemies on the entire map
i have a custom mad map with around 25 gold mines and probably around 70 ancient forest and 30 graveyards and spit out enemies all the time.
I mean, then you have to add a ton of high level AIs or are basically guaranteed to trigger all those events.
It's just how the system is set up. The Demon Gate, Hades Monument and Primal Gate event all happen if a specific unit on a specific tile is being left along for too long.
And again, by year 73 you should have armies capable of beating back Hell and the Primal Plane, especially since the later doesn't really focus on the player.
If you don't want that, there is a mod to disable those events that just kills all triggering units.
