Dark Emperor advice

I have been trying to do the Dark Emperor and failing miserably. :-)

Anyone managed to succeed at it and have any advice to impart?

I am finding it quite difficult to compete with other classes with the almost utter lack of Towers in the Fallen Empire.

For the undead indies you generally want several Heliodromus units, cuz a lot of their spells deal double damage to undead, other than that Leos are a second best choice. White Wizards, if you have access to Libraries and their upgrade (if you got AoHM) have a few Banish spells that can one shot undead as well.
But yeah, overall it's very difficult to get the Dark Emperor on singleplayer. A lot of it is up to chance as well, depending on what spells the Lich gets. Might be even worse, if you got the Horror subsociety instead of the Undead one.

just get mage doomstacks and you steamroll everything easily
if youre lucky you can even get an old wizard early game, only ~300g!
