How do large mirrors work?
I'll probably figure this out soon enough on my own, but I am legitimately stumped. The rituals sound like they work for both regular and large mirrors, but I can only cast them with the smaller ones.

I waited and built up a stockpile of gems just in case that was what's needed, but at 10x saved up, still nothing.

Clarity plz?

So. Let's take "Capture Spell" ritual for example. There is a lvl 1 ritual with this name, and a lvl 2 ritual with the same name. Both have same descriptions. But a lvl 1 ritual requires a regular mirror, while a lvl 2 ritual requires a large one. Lvl 1 captures 20 spell charges for 5 gems, while level 2 captures 50 spells for 25 gems. Lvl 1 casts 1 spell per turn, while lvl 2 casts 2 spells per turn.

You should hover over the mirror icon near ritual name to see which kind of mirror is required. Some rituals work with any kind of mirrors, e.g. Scrying and Mirror Walk.

Ah, thank you for clarifying that, and so quickly too. The descriptions of the starting rituals make it sound like they work on both types of mirrors. Maybe that can be changed in the next update? I think rituals should only have the information pertaining to themselves and not each other, to avoid unnecessary confusion, even if that is the Illusionist's specialty.

Well... The rituals have the same name, so that's the reason they have the same description. What do you suggest? Call lvl 1 ritual "Capture 20 spell charges in a regular mirror" and lvl 2 ritual "Capture 50 charges in a large mirror, just like 20 in a regular, but sorta more powerful, and also double cast".

After all, it does show you an icon of specific mirror you need for the ritual. I admit, I was also confused the first time, but - objectively - that was my bad, not the game's fault.

Well I hadn't unlocked the bigger rituals yet, and it just doesn't make any sense to me to include info for a different ritual in one that is irrelevant to it, so I assumed that the game would give me information relevant to what I had. If this is considered unreasonable, I may have to rethink getting to invested into this game.

Also, yes, call them something different. Something like: "Capture Images (Small)" and "Capture Images (Large)" or: "Capture Images" and "Capture Mass Images"
Personally, I like the latter.

The Illusionist seems like a fairly difficult class to play at first, although once they get going .. man can those mirrors spam out a lot of units!

I am finding it to be quite easy to play, but that's unrelated to the current discussion. I don't want a rework of the class (it's very fun as it is,) just clarity of what already exists.

This information is relevant for the class. Capture Spell, Capture Images, Capture Greater Spell, Capture Phantasms - all these rituals are "paired", all of them have 2 tiers. All of them have description that include both tiers, so that you can make educated decisions which one you need at the moment. Capture Images of lvl 2 is not always better than Capture Images of lvl 1 - in fact, I find tier 1 more useful in most situations. But, basically, they do the same thing with some nuance differences. And when you think about it, combining both tiers in one description makes more sense.

Anyway, I suggest you don't give up and get a better feel for the class. Everything will come together in due time.

Just don't include the info for the t1 in the t2 and visa versa. Is it so hard to make things clear? I get that you 'learn' about it with a little time playing the class, but if the base idea of Illusionist wasn't so fun, I would have tossed it aside as broken without even coming here.

And I don't want others to make that mistake. It's a very fun class.

Literally just move some words around. It doesn't impact any of the veteran players and makes the class magnitudes more accessible to newer players like myself. I really don't know why you are fighting me on this.

I'm not, though. Feel free to post this in Wishlist thread. I would recommend to come up with better solution first, because this:

Originally posted by ExAliquo:
"Capture Images (Small)" and "Capture Images (Large)"

is literally what we have right now (ritual name + mirror size next to it), and this:

Originally posted by ExAliquo:
"Capture Images" and "Capture Mass Images"

is inaccurate and will cause even more confusion. Capture Images of lvl 2 doesn't simply capture "mass images", as in the same images as lvl 1 but more. It has a chance of capturing images of swarm, monster, or otherwordly beings in addition to simple soldiers or animals. As I said, it's nuanced. But if you come up with better presentation - you should definetely post it in the Wishlist.

The spells has the same name and therefore the same description, but I hope that the following clarifies matters. The following is now added to the descriptions.

If cast with the first level ritual a small mirror is used.
If cast with the second level ritual a large mirror is used.

You will enjoy the ride. Illusionist is a great fun to play. It look complicated at first but after short time of play everything slide to it's place and all seems logical and natural.
