Game Missing Steam.DLL File?
It'll launch and Steam will display that I'm playing it, but no game window will pop-up. I see it in my task manager, but the game window never appears. If I go to the folder and run it straight from there, I get error that says it's missing the Steam.DLL file.

I looked into work arounds and pathing, but none have worked. I even tested out putting the Steam.DLL file in the folder temporary. Again, runs in task manager but never actually appears. Anyone have a clue what this problem could be?

Also, I have checked DirectX, Nvidia, and Windows 8. They all seem to be updated as far as they can go.

I hate the fact that it doesn't work correctly. I ended up having to play on someone else's computer when I visited them in the summer. No good to me know that I'm home though.

Anyone have any potential fixes? :/

I'm having the exact problem also. :(

for me, what's strange is that Samantha Swift and the Hidden Roses of Athena loaded and played without incident.

So ... I never saw it coming, when I tried to play this one :steamfacepalm:

Hidden Roses was AWESOME! PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP.
Is THIS why I (and others) can't play this purchased game?

Found this in the config file ...

<Properties>
<String id="ApplicationTitle">Samantha Swift and the Golden Touch</String>
<String id="TimeLeftLabelPrefixSingular">YOU ONLY HAVE</String>
<String id="TimeLeftLabelSuffixSingular">MINUTE OF FREE GAMEPLAY LEFT!</String>
<String id="TimeLeftLabelPrefixPlural">YOU ONLY HAVE</String>
<String id="TimeLeftLabelSuffixPlural">MINUTES OF FREE GAMEPLAY LEFT!</String>
<String id="ExpireTimeLeftLabel">YOUR 60-MINUTE TRIAL IS OVER.</String>
</Properties>

Were we inadvertently provided with a DEMO rather then the full game?

Pls help.

Thanx

Same problem... the other one, Roses of Athena, does work.
I've owned this game for quite a while and I remember I was able to play it before.

Deinstall and installing on another drive doesn't work either.

I know this is an old post, but the game is still doing this. I can play Roses of Athena fine, but Golden Touch won't launch properly. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling, verifying files, copy/pasting the dll, and turning off my antivirus. Nothing works. Steam shows it is running, and it is listed in task manager, but the wndow only flashes very very briefly.

I am running Windows 10 Pro 64, AMD FX-6100 and a GTX 750Ti

Did anyone ever find a fix that actually works?

I get this error too. It's very frustrating as the first samantha game played OK.

It's quite ridiculous that people are STILL dealing with this issue. SMDH

@Runzu I agree

Ditto to all of above. It is ridiculous that we pay for a game but if it doesn't play its "hard luck!!

@everyone don't get me wrong, it used to work fine on my older computers a couple of years ago. its like they dont give a damn anymore as it is an older game

I know it has been a while since this discussion was poked at. but I just decided to play this game and ran into the same problem.

however I was able to fix it, i'm using Windows 10 x64 btw.

1. I got the Steam.dll missing error. I went to my steam installation folder and copied the Steam.dll from there and put it in the folder where the game was.
2. Then I got the problem that it was running and showing me a 600x900 screen but nothing happened. I saw it was running in the background so I looked at this site: https://www.sendspace.com/file/wj7rd1.
looks suspicious I know, but I scanned it with several tools for virussus but found nothing. you replace your .exe file from the game with this one.
3. your computer will tell you that it is a suspicious program, you can make it trust by going to the .exe file --> right click and choose properties --> you will see a message at the bottom, just click the check box for trusting it

Tadaa, it worked for me :D
