While House Ecaz is non original canon, House Vernius is even more anti-canon, since Frank explicitely mentioned that IX is not ruled by a noble house but a technocratic confederation.

Ecaz seems legit addition, but a pretty boring one, i would much prefer Bene Tleilax.

As I see it, Spice Wars isn't supposed to be a carbon copy of the books or films but more it's own standalone piece inspired by existing material - I think the devs even said as much. You can think of it as an alternate history or universe if it gets you twisty.

That's not it mate. They're forcing a house (which is barely mentioned in Frank's books) into a game, some might say for diversity's sake, because it doesn't really make sense in Dune lore. Ecaz is not part of the Arrakis war. That's why it feels like a forced diversity add.

There are at least 4 other greater factions that make sense in the Arrakis war that could be added (Ix, BG, BT, SG) but they chose to do a diversity add of a very unknown house. Vermillion hells, the Bene Gesserit is a full female faction, we would gladly play that over this
