Because it wasn't as good as you remember it and the other dune is already being remade, twice
A fresh but rather blant Look it is though, while the game sure has some people enjoying it, it has the same amount of people that do not. Numbers do not lie, Dune Spice Wars was not a success, and the future, while surely maintaining a dedicated playbase, will result in the Numbers going down even more.
People that enjoy it can argue as much they want, it is good for them to have a game they enjoy, in the end, Numbers and Opinions cannot be ignored, which makes this Game a failure overall.
Hey Solomon,
Between Steam and Gampass, the game has actually surpassed expectations and projections by a significant amount both financially and with regards to playerbase since launch into Early Access, the release on Gampass and more recently, with the 1.0 release.
We're very happy with the performance and overall response to the game since launch, and while there are still things to improve obviously, there's a ton of stuff is in the works or the early planning stages for the game, so it will only go from strength to strength over the coming years.
Let's not jump to conclusions just yet based on a fraction of data available ;)
James
If your expectations where below average, then I agree indeed, it did surpass expectations, fact is however, that since the 1.0 Launch, your playbase went down , reviews changing from positive to mixed, not bad, but neither good either, simply, average.
It is not jumping to conclusion, reading through the forums really, while you do have indeed people enjoying the game, you have the same amount of people, being disappointed, feeling lied to, or outright refusing to deal with Shiro in the future from this point on-
While I do not validate either side of the argument, Average it is.
If you're basing your arguement purely on Steam, then yeah things could definitely be improved. But between Gamepass and Steam, the game has had one of our most successful EA campaigns and launches in our studio's history, again both financially and in players. So no complaints here with that in consideration.
Many users complaints about the game are valid, and we're going to do what we can to address them with some of the upcoming updates. A lot however are based purely on misconstruing our development plan/comments made during Early Access and expressing frustration that those promises that were never made, were never fulfilled, which sadly we can't do much about other than redirect them to our actual roadmaps and development articles that laid out our plans clearly.
The game (as with almost every other game) is not perfect and we're going to do what we can to improve it, but it's performed exceptionally well over the course of it's lifetime and has a long life ahead of it :)
James
Indeed, I wish you the best, I myself was very interested in the project for months now, but with the current situation, and state of the game, I am not going to buy at present time, but will however continue to observe and see, if you can indeed, change things for the better, if you can, you got a purchase from me.
It would be easy to listen only to the positive half of people, but I think you also pay attention to the negative half of voices, this is good but vital for success is also, to act upon it. Thank you for your time.
Appreciated Solomon. If you find your way around to the game eventually, we'd love to hear your thoughts.
Juggling so many varied opinions is always a challenge, but everything is being taken into account and discussed, and we're going to do what we can to make sure that we continue to take the game forward with the players feedback in mind.
Cheers for the chat, enjoy the rest of your week!
James
Weird ... just weird.
Maybe some people should just accept that life is not a dream concert.
Personally, I've also been disappointed by games that are generally successful. If I started making such a fuss in the forums every time I played a game, I wouldn't be able to play anymore.
PS: There have been several cases in which a game was developed in a broken way just because a minority was screaming loudly for changes... ;-)
