Hopefully, Barkhan and OpenRA will show people that nostalgia is a powerful and deceptive drug.
Actually, the real story is even stranger. Virgin Games gave Cryo Interactive the contract to make a game called Dune based on the movies. But Virgin Games did not like the progress, so they ordered Westwood to make the Dune game. This was released as Dune (without the II). But Virgin had never told Cryo to cancel the project and that is why the Cryo game is called Dune and the Westwood game Dune 2.
What is the punishment for breaking the Great Convention by the use of atomics? Complete planetary annihilation, lot of room for diplomacy there too. Yeah, let's pretend that Spice Wars has a pulse and that it's more exciting than even a mediocre attempt at adapting the Butlerian Jihad into an RTS would be.
But hey, I'm happy for the few hundred people playing this.
Spice Wars understands that warfare while possible does NOT make Dune what it is, Consider all the stuff you mentioned part of the world building and history but not at all the core of what Dune is
It would be in your best interest to leave this alone. Shiro and the remaining playerbase are dug in and still believe the game will bounce back up. There is no magic spell to be found here that will make this game enjoyable to you
Typical teenage entitlement right here, if your mother had taught you any sense of respect you would realise the world doesnt revolve around you.
If you think otherwise, cite book, chapter and page where Herbert does so.
Why do you have to make it so painfully obvious you don't know what you're talking about?
My guy, he literally stated that he watched gameplay on youtube and twitch. That is hands down the best way to experience the full display without having to pay for it. Not even a demo or trial shows as much.
What part of that don't you understand?
