Unit and faction question

I'm totally new to the game. I notice most factions have units that serve the same roles (melee infantry, ranged infantry, etc). Are these units identical, or do different factions have stronger troops in certain categories? Like are Sardaukar better than other elite infantry, that sort of thing?

but then they made them different. same categories different effects.

All factions have different play styles. Each with a different philosophy on how to wage war. Harkonnen believe in brute force. They just use numbers and all offence no defense. When you play with them, you don't care if you lose your army, as long as they lost theirs. Cause you will recruit more men faster then they can. Overwhelming them. Atreides is opposite. The believe in quality over quantity. And defense. So their units are tough and balanced. And they have many ways of saving units. Vernius believes in machines. So their armies use technology like floating units they don't attract worms. With unique abilities. So yes. Each faction plays very different. And yes. The Fedaykin and the Sardaukar are the best elite units.
