The campaign deliberately pits the Fremen against the Atreides. Unlike the books, if you are the Fremen faction, you don't want someone else becoming the ruler of Arakkis. There is no prophetic Mahdi. You are an enemy to every other faction, except to further your own goal of ruling Arakkis, or for your own convenience. Conversely, the Atreides can befriend the Sietches as part of their campaign, as it keeps some of those elements from the books.
For what it's worth, the Fremen CAN befriend the Spacing Guild and start building fast ships that can fortify militia much more quickly, once that is unlocked. It is possible to gain that ability after the 3rd scenario, if you take that mission as the 3rd scenario.
I'm at all not familiar with that strategy. How do you befriend the Spacing Guild? Are they also a faction in the game? If so, I haven't seen them.
