Barkhan is probably what you're looking for, it's still in development but you can wishlist it on Steam to stay up-to-date.
The first one is an adventure with Grand Strategy elements.

You're right, I was assuming you were talking about Battle for Arrakis but 1992 is indeed the first Dune game. Played it a very long, long time ago :)
I played both a long time ago too :P
I think Shiro can do something good because in Dune: Spice Wars there are the right colors for the first Dune and the Grand Strategy slow pace for the battles from the planet view.
