Why no spice freighters?
It wasnt demanding on the system and the most important thing - having no spice freighters is not lore accurate. Spice was stockpiled in capital cities, both in the books and latest movie. Map is less alive and a little boring to look at now. I loved seeing them all coming to capital, especially when you have multiple spice fields under your control. What was the reason?

Probably caused issues in multiplayer.

You do see them shuttling back and forth, they're just not interactable. Then again, I haven't played the last few weeks (I'm in hospital on a crummy laptop) - did they get removed?
The MP patch removed them apparently.

Thank you! It is good to hear. :)
Hey there,

So in the end, the freighters were just too taxing on the game and caused more complications than their inclusion warranted. We looked at multiple options here, and the best one at this point in time was to remove them (at least for the time being), but we are looking at alternatives too.

In addition, we have the space port update on the horizon which will fill a similar purpose, and things could get very cluttered.

I like things that make the world seem more 'alive'. Spice freighters helped that, but as long as it's a concern, that's good. Wouldn't mind seeing villagers going about their business either, or lights coming on in houses, etc.

But, that's all spicing up the experience a little. It's not exactly core gameplay. Still... it's the sort of thing that differentiates a good and a great game.

Well, lots to come and many improvements to be made in Early Access, the final game will look significantly different to what you see now, so bear with us!

Thanks for understanding :)

I really liked the freighters too! Sometimes I just sat there and watched them transport the Spice to my capital without really playing the game :D Maybe they could be added back as an optional/toggleable graphics option?

Or just enable them in singleplayer, if they´re such a problem in multiplayer.

I also like to see some passive transportation going on on the map.
