Not sure if it's the same objective every time to unlock spacing guild favors, but for me the objective was to defeat and remove 10 Renegade camps, and the Bonus Objective was to be the faction who had removed the most camps at the end, as the various other factions on the map will also try to remove them. Once all the Renegade Camps were dismantled, the mission ended.
I can't recall whether or not I had the spacing guild branch unlocked during that mission, but it was definitely available in missions afterwards, and some spacing guild specific bonuses showed up as post mission rewards, such as starting with bonus Guild Favor and the ability to create your fighter craft from the start of a mission.
How did the renegades get to Dune without the spacing guild though? Maybe the SG should have just said no when they wanted transport ;)
