saw so many people saying Dune: Spice Wars is the best RTS games in recent years but the game cant even reached 2k daily players so what gives?

i want to buy this game and give it a chance since i want to try a new RTS games to play but the low daily players kept me from buying this.

Uhh sir, the newest movie adaptation follows the book lore. I think what you mean to say is this: "The movies leave stuff out." It feels like the same exact story. I am rereading it now after watching the movie and I just enjoy it that much more.

They weren't talking about the movie, that's why they said "the devs". They're talking about this game, which does not follow the book lore. The game really doesn't have a story but personally I'm fine with that.

With how the game is setup you can't travel over neutral or hostile terrain without your army suffering attrition. It would be difficulty to interact with any more than 4 players because of this.

im planning to watch the movie Dune (1984) & (2021), see if the movie somehow made me wanna buy the game. if this is a Star Wars game then there would be no question asked this is an instant buy.

the reason why im leaning towards Dune Spice Wars is because, i like the artstyle, the UI and all of that, and the gameplay that I watched, the game seems like a slow paced which I prefer nowadays. Im a high APM RTS player on AoE 2 and SC2 but as Im getting older im slowly starting to hate APM RTS games and im trying to look for something slow paced but not turn based.

im still on the fence wether Dune Spice Wars is a game for me, especially if I hate CK3, CIV5, Stellaris type of games. yes including their previous games Northgard. playing Northgard felt like a it is a toddler version of AoE. im sure if i never played AoE i would enjoy Northgard though.

It basically plays like a board game.

If you have 3 friends that want to play this game with you and 'get into it', play on discord, and really exlore the game together treating it as a BOARD GAME 4X to play with your buds; there's literally no better game.

If you want starcraft, this ain't it.

Not sure this has been mentioned, but this game lies in the lineage of Rise of Nations, which is the ground-breaking game I would believe to be the first of this genre, which would be real-time 4x.

This title is absolutely not a traditional RTS.

The game is excellent and distinctive. It's not a pure RTS of course. It's a mix of RTS and 4X. The pure perfect RTS imho is Supreme Commander and Beyond All Reason, but this Dune is also very good. Because of the atmosphere and the spirit of the original lore.

Personally, I had it installed ever since early access and I only just now got into playing it and learning all the ropes. Now that I do, and really liking the gameplay, I've started telling friends about it.

I don't know why this one didn't really get up there in the "games people talk about"-list but it should be. It plays and feels nice, there's strategies and tactics to everything, the pacing is comfortable so that pretty much anyone can jump in and not feel overwhelmed.

If I could wish for something it would be more campaign variants, and possibly even for more factions such as Fremen. It feels a bit skirmish only and for that the game doesn't offer enough variation to keep it going endlessly, like for examply Stellaris (which is totally without a campaign, but offers SO MANY different ways to customize your faction I've managed to rack up 3k hours in it and still not be bored.).

Dune: Spice Wars could be a title I could spend as much time in, if it had more options for varied campaigns. I just don't know how yet, but I feel what I miss most is more options when it comes to campaigns, and I really do want to play a Fremen campaign (not just a skirmish, but feel I'm growing and doing something for the planet).

The only time it really matters, if it's a multiplayer only game, and low player counts mean you essentially can't play the game you bought.

Otherwise the best games would be mobile trash by a gigantic margin.

guys, I bought the game. im preparing my mind to be ready for the steep learning curve of the game. hopefully this game is a gem.
