Dune III release date?
Hi,

So, I was talking to Joe (one of the OG's from Westwood Studios) and he is very keen to get the old gang back together. With some new guys for the VFX. He also wants to make the graphics not cartoony, but gritty with all the latest graphic tech to make it look and feel real.

So, Joe and a few of them are 100% committed, but for some reason EA are blocking them. Seems insane, with the hype of the movie and guys like me that grew up playing games like Dune 2. Heck make a new Red Alert in the same fashion.

While there has been a few RTS type games released of late, they are almost all cartoony, 4X crap. Basically need a new Starcraft with a graphics style for Adults that want to get fully immersed with their 4K LG C3 type big OLED screens and RTX 4090s dying to have many 100s of units and building with super interesting maps.

Heck, ill donate 500k USD if anyone else wants to back. Take a cut

Pretty sure they'd do a great job and with all the devs being fired here and there, I'm absolutely sure they would find a great team to make it happen but Brian Herbert is the main issue here !

I don't like the character, I don't like his books (despite being largely helped by Kevin J Anderson) and I don't like his point of view.

Also, I don't think EA has any Dune license active, they'd have to purchase it and make it happen which is not very likely since EA just stated they did not want to create new licenses to focus on existing ones (by this, hear "Battlefields" and the thousands of sport games they have with which they already earn them millions)

Even if EA is the owner of Westwood and it's games (Dune 2, 2000 and Emperor), they can't decide to make another Dune game or remaster them without purchasing the license.
And Brian Herbert already stated many times that he does not want a remaster of Dune 2, 2000 or Emperor because for him, those games got their time)

I think he wanted to voice that in support of Dune Spice Wars at the time? I may be mistaken. But it's true that Dune could see so many different settings, including grand strategy.

Dune 2, 2000 and Emperor had a lot of generosity in acting, soundtrack, atmosphere, much more artistic and relevant in terms of characters and story than the Spice Wars we have here. It's not only about the RTS genre. Or maybe he wants something to get back to Dune 1.
