Dune games and their copyrights
There are a variation of Dune games:

- Dune 2, Dune 2000, Emperor: Battle for Dune were made by Westwood studios (now EA) and had FMV using the Lynch movie wardrobe.
I suppose they have the copyright from the movie? I'm asking because other westwood games (Command & Conquer) have been added to Steam. But why not Emperor?

- There was a wierd Dune game back in 2001, maybe from the miniseries? Let's ignore them.

- And finally Spice wars, a MMO and a card one that are new based in the latest movies?

Finally the question is: why Emperor isn't available in steam (or EA's origin)? Who owns the copyright?

That was the game that introduced to the Dune universe. Even if people say is bad game, I love it.

I loved Emperor....

but I'm not a fan of the EA Remasters. They don't have anyone working at EA who actually likes or understand RTS games anymore. It really shows.

The people in charge of the Herbert estate, and thus the Dune IP, specificaly do not allow remasters of the old Dune games.

Gruntmods edition if you want to play Dune 2000,
and I belive there is an OpenRA version too.
Emperor is abandonware and works with some tweaking on modern OS

Dino de Laurentiis? For the whole dune IP? Still don’t understand why not.

I know Emperor is abandonware, and I used the tweakins, but is a pain in the ass.

there was also a rpg/strategy game called dune at the same time of dune 2 back in the 90s.

and there is a boardgame , which is also digital on steam: dune imperium (first DLC will come online this summer).

That would be quite impressive, since Dino de Laurentiis died in 2010.

His name was somewhere in my subcontious. I have no clue , but somehow I remember the IP belongs to his family or something like that. If not, who owns Dune IP?

Man I miss the RPG strategy game. In some ways it captured the visuals of dune better than anything else.

... Interestingly there's also a VERY pervy NSFW fan game which took clear inspiration from it called "Behind the Dune". lol
