Combine Honnete Ober Advancer Mercantiles (CHOAM), "a gigantic monopoly encompassing all forms of commerce across the Imperium which essentially controlled all economic affairs across the cosmos, although it relied upon the Spacing Guild for transport across space due to the Guild's monopoly on faster-than-light travel".

Dune Fandom[dune.fandom.com].

Basically you are buying shares of the company. Once you have more then 50% of the shares you become CEO (?), that's how I think of it, and the reason why you win the economic game.

CHOAM shares are basically just shares of the "business" of spice. In the game, if you have great cashflow you can buy a greater portion of the company by buying shares, which gives you bonuses. Owning 50% of shares is the win condition for the "Economic Victory."

Landsraad Council in the lore is basically the government of the empire. In-game, you can spend your votes (and your "Influence" resource on top of that) to either implement or oppose the different buffs/debuffs the game presents to you. It's a great way to get advantages or screw over another player who you know could use them.

The Assassin unit doesn't actually assassinate a player and take them out of the game, but if it attacks an enemy unit, the enemy instantly dies and the assassin disappears. It's a great way to get rid of strong enemy units quickly if you can get the assassin to it.

Never read the book myself, but maybe because I playing a lot of strategy games. To put it in my point of view:

Spice : Resource for you to run your economy, trade it for money, or keep it to do something else.

Solaris : Money to spend.

Plascrete : Construction material, you use it mainly to build a building.

CHOAM : A shares, you can buy low, sell high (just like the real one!).

Landsraad council : Like meeting between everyone to vote on global or self benefit, up top there are a position/chairs you can vote (by spend that "influences") that give you different benefit just like UN..

Assassin have two use, one for assassinate enemy unit (can be use only once per assassin), and another for big operation of assassinate the leader in a match, they can be use to reset the assassination attempt progress...

Spend more time on it and you could understand all of them in no time, just don't rush things and have fun learning around.

Have they fixed this victory condition? I pulled a majority of CHOAM a long while back and the game never recognized I had won.

Were you playing on Conquest? Even the skirmish maps on there specify what kind of victory is valid. I made the slight mistake of going heavy into CHOAM as Corrino only to realize I need a political, hegemony, or domination victory to actually win that map.

If it's possible, Choam are an easy win. Keep on doing spice and other gold buildings to gain so you can buy. After two conquests and few skirmish battles, it is an easiest path to victory

Unless there are 2 people going for it, then it gets a lil wacky and you need to beat them with assassinations or military
