If you like grand strategy Games and want to have really fast version of those. This may be game for you
The incentive to play, is the Dune universe, how the game is structured(Similar base idea to Northgard from the same company, but way improved when comparing the gameplay loop) and perhaps multiplayer which is amazing and the it's where you will find the most essence of the game.
I have played almost 200 hours of singleplayer, and a few dozen hours on MP myself.
Because its an RTS. It also cleverly combines tactics, economics and politics which makes perfect sense for the Dune franchise.
Its also a very short 4X at the same time.
It does have a campaign. It just doesn't have a story-heavy driven one. At the start of Conquest mode, you choose a House to play, then choose the region on the map you want to conquer. At the start of that region, an advisor might tell you what to focus on. Once you meet the goals, you finish that region, and then go back to the world map, where you will select your next region to conquer. Each region has its own set of starting parameters and goals to achieve.
Once you finish the Conquest mode, you can play skirmishes against the AI, or play multiplayer against other humans.
The main thing I dislike about DSW is the research you do to improve your overall experience, doesn't move from region to region. You have to research everything all over again.
Just like Northgard.
It won't appeal to your regular RTS player, its a niche within the genre, its slower and deeper, your micro or APM does not matter as much as your ability to run economy, trade and expansion.
Hell you can win multiplayer games in multiple ways without even stepping on enemy territory once.
As for conquest mode, you play it kind of like 4x game, making decisions impacting following outcome.
Think of Dune:SW as of small scale stellaris or crusade kings, where you can end session in 1-3 hours.
all the people who disliked it initially have left, refunded a long time ago, leaving only the fanboys to vote. it's simply selection bias, if there is not a variety of opinion on the reviews then it is most likely actually a bad game.
Lol.
"If too many people like it, then it's probably a bad game."
What?
Tell us you don't know how Steam reviews work, without telling us you don't know how Steam reviews work.
People that dislike the game and refund it can still review the game. Hence, why there were an influx of bad reviews suddenly for a period of one month in September. They're still there.
Also, by your logic, games like Overwatch 2 having Overwhelmingly bad reviews must be a bug of the Steam system? Because only fanboys can create positive reviews...
These are some of the finest mental gymnastics I have seen in months.
"How dare people like something I don't?!?"
