Many House has unique Drone.
1. Due to the nature of the battles in this game(for make gameplay more interesting, combinate different types of units, like range+melee etc).
2. Developers don't want to overload players with tens types of units (tanks, artillery, rokets launchers etc.)
3. This game is based mostly on the movie. In the movie we didn't see a tanks.
4. Just imagine the noise they will make for the worms
I havent read the books, so im not familiar with the lore.
Its cool if there are no tanks, the game is awesome without them. I was just curious about why they are in the videos but nowhere on the game.
I tought maybe i was missing some research or something.
Most 4X claim to be this way, but in the end it all comes down to building huge blobs of troops and right clicking all over the map with them.
I like that the game REALLY does have ways to win that dont involve having a billion troops.
So no tanks? no problem :)
EDIT:
Can you recommend other Real time (dont like turn based) 4X games that allow you to do this in a fun way?
Not part of the lore, you are missing out. Get over yourself.
Have you tried EU4 or HOI4?
The air units help quite a lot. It's kind of "meh" in a way because everything else is foot based.
Some people said Dune II was ridiculous because of the sandworm/vibration thing but having played both when they were a brand new game.... I think Dune II was more fun.
This dune is interesting and can be fun but there is a level of monotony with the infantry. The missile base used to be "wickedly op" compared to the joke it is now. That spiced things up a bit but overall the game does kind of suffer from a lack of units.
In the lore the Harkonnen had artillery and either a trike or quad (dont remember which). The trike and quad were in Dune II but they do not make an appearance here.
You know what isn't in this game?
By the lore the Harkonnen were "butchering" the fremen. In this game the Fremen are special forces. They eventually became elite warriors but only after Paul.
The Harkonnen military is finally in a place where it doesn't suck but the Fremen have always been overtuned.
By lore they should have no Ornithopters (something again that only happened after Paul)
To be blunt this development team is ignoring lore where they find it convenient.
1.The Harkonnen used artillery (explicitely said to be museum pieces) to collapse a bunch of caves that Atreides troops had hid in. For nothing else. And they shipped it back to the museum when they were done
2.The Harkonnen never used trikes or quads, that's all Dune 2
3.The Harkonnen didn't butcher the Fremen, the Sardaukar performed a pogrom before they left after the fall of House Atreides and they took substantial losses while doing so. The Harkonnen troops are not great fighters in the book. They just held the edge over the Fremen because they had air superiority. That's why the final battle happened during a sandstorm which disabled the Harkonnen's and Emperor's frigates and ornies and left only the ground troops to fight
To be blunt, you are utterly ignorant of the lore of the books, so you have zero justificaction to lambase others for it.
Yeah, it's based off the books this time. Not meant to be a Dune 2/Emperor sequel.
