Wait a bit longer before buying this game. It's not really there yet.
In SP its easy to get almost every victory condition possible, and SP offers a lot of replayability.
Currently the only single player options are a regular 2-4 person skirmish where you compete over a number of victory conditions, with no story whatsoever, and Kanly which is a sped up version for 2 players. The AI is servicable.
Whether or not that's enough for you is personal preference.
It won't be long now until a new single player mode, Conquest, will arrive. It's been hinted that this takes the form of a story based campaign but we have zero details so it would be best if you wait and see what it really is.
However it'll be save to say that it won't be tacked on or anything. Shiro only delivers quality.
